📊 Method 1 — Simple Gann Angle
Step 1 · Calculate the Step Size
Step = Current Price × (Volatility% ÷ 100) Example (Price=21350, Vol=1%): Step = 21350 × 0.01 = 213.50 points ⚠ Note: High and Low are NOT used in the step calculation. Only the current price × volatility matters.

The step is derived from the current price scaled by volatility — not from the H-L range. This makes the step proportional to the actual price level, giving meaningful spacing regardless of the instrument’s absolute price.

Step 2 · Long Levels (Resistance)
Buy Price = Current Price + Step Target 1 = Buy Price + (1 × Step) Target 2 = Buy Price + (2 × Step) … Target 8 = Buy Price + (8 × Step) Example (Price=21350, Step=213.5): Buy Price = 21350 + 213.5 = 21,563.5 Target 1 = 21,563.5 + 213.5 = 21,777.0 Target 2 = 21,563.5 + 427.0 = 21,990.5 Target 8 = 21,563.5 + 1708 = 23,271.5

All 9 levels fan upward from current price in equal steps. The buy signal triggers when price crosses above Buy Price.

Step 3 · Short Levels (Support)
Sell Price = Current Price − Step Target 1 = Sell Price − (1 × Step) Target 2 = Sell Price − (2 × Step) … Target 8 = Sell Price − (8 × Step) Example (Price=21350, Step=213.5): Sell Price = 21350 − 213.5 = 21,136.5 Target 1 = 21,136.5 − 213.5 = 20,923.0 Target 2 = 21,136.5 − 427.0 = 20,709.5 Target 8 = 21,136.5 − 1708 = 19,428.5

Short levels mirror the long levels — anchored to current price, stepping downward uniformly. Sell signal triggers when price breaks below Sell Price.

Key Insight & When to Use
Why Price × Vol% (not H-L × Vol%)? The key insight is that High and Low are only used as context — the actual step and all level calculations use Current Price × Volatility% as the base unit.


🔺 Method 2 — Gann Fan Angle · Square of 9
Step 1 · Calculate Price Range
Price Range (PR) = Current Price × (Volatility% ÷ 100) Example (CMP=21350, Vol=1%): PR = 21350 × 0.01 = 213.50 points ⚠ Uses CMP — NOT Previous Close, NOT (High − Low). Both methods use Price × Vol% as base.

Price Range is the expected daily movement, derived from the current price scaled by volatility — the same base as Method 1, but then transformed non-linearly via Square of 9.

Step 2 · Degree Factor per Angle
Degree Factor = Angle (degrees) ÷ 180 Per W.D. Gann: 180° = factor of 1.0 Examples: 45° (1×1) → 45 ÷ 180 = 0.2500 63.75° (2×1) → 63.75 ÷ 180 = 0.3542 26.25° (1×2) → 26.25 ÷ 180 = 0.1458 82.5° (8×1) → 82.5 ÷ 180 = 0.4583

Each Gann angle maps to a degree and a factor. The 1×1 at 45° is the master balance line.

Step 3 · Resistance Levels (from HIGH)
Res_PR(n) = (√PR + Factor_up(n))² Resistance(n) = HIGH + Res_PR(n) × Factor_up(n) Example for 1×2 angle (factor=0.1458): √213.5 = 14.6116 Res_PR = (14.6116 + 0.1458)² = 217.78 R(1×2) = 21500 + 217.78 × 0.1458 = 21500 + 31.75 = 21,531.76 ↑ anchored to HIGH

All resistance levels fan upward from the session HIGH — not from CMP. The 1×2 resistance is the Buy Price trigger.

Step 4 · Support Levels (from LOW)
Sup_PR(n) = (√PR − Factor_dn(n))² Support(n) = LOW − Sup_PR(n) × Factor_dn(n) Example for 2×1 angle (factor=0.3542): Sup_PR = (14.6116 − 0.3542)² = 203.28 S(2×1) = 21200 − 203.28 × 0.3542 = 21200 − 71.98 = 21,128.01 ↑ anchored to LOW

All support levels fan downward from the session LOW. The 2×1 support (mirror of 1×2 resistance) is the Sell Price trigger.

Why HIGH/LOW Anchors — Not CMP?
Resistance from HIGH: → Levels are above the day’s HIGH → Act as true breakout targets → Price must exceed HIGH first Support from LOW: → Levels are below the day’s LOW → Act as true breakdown targets → Price must breach LOW first CMP is only used for Price Range (PR) HIGH/LOW are the fan anchor points

This is the key insight: CMP scales the angle fan size, but HIGH and LOW position where the fan is anchored — making levels truly outside today’s range.
