Prices are NSE end-of-day closes for the selected session. Options are valued with Black-76 on each expiry's forward (same-expiry futures close or put-call parity), one IV per strike taken from its out-of-the-money option, time in calendar days. Probability of profit uses a lognormal model at the expiry's ATM IV. Margins are not shown because they depend on your broker's SPAN and exposure figures. For education only; this is not advice to trade.
SBIN (SBIN) Option Strategy Builder: How It Works
Build or load a strategy
Pick one of 36 ready-made strategies (bullish, bearish, neutral and others), or add legs one by one from the option chain with the B and S buttons. Every leg can be edited: buy or sell, expiry, strike, call or put, number of lots and entry price.
Prices used
Legs start at the NSE closing price of the selected session. You can type your own entry price to match an actual fill. Lot size comes from the exchange contract specification for SBIN.
How options are valued
Each option is valued with the Black-76 model on the forward price of its expiry: the same-expiry futures close, or put-call parity when no such future exists. Each strike uses one implied volatility, taken from its out-of-the-money option, and time is counted in calendar days. You can change any strike's IV, or shift all of them with the offset.
Reading the Results
Payoff graph
The green and red line is the profit or loss at expiry; the blue line is the value on the target date you choose with the slider, at the target price. Bars in the background show call and put open interest, and dashed lines mark one and two standard deviations from the current price.
Max profit, max loss and breakevens
These are worked out from the payoff at the first expiry in the strategy. Unlimited means the payoff keeps rising or falling as the price moves further. Breakevens are the prices where the payoff crosses zero.
Probability of profit
POP is the chance that the strategy ends in profit at expiry under a lognormal model at the expiry's ATM implied volatility. It is a model estimate, not a forecast.
Greeks and P&L table
Delta, theta, gamma and vega are shown for each leg and for the whole strategy at the target price and date. The P&L table shows what each leg would be worth at the target, against its entry price.
Strategy chart
The strategy chart shows the net premium of the same legs on each past session, from closing prices, alongside the futures price, so you can see how the combination has been priced over time.
Limitations
End-of-day data
Prices are from the session close, not live quotes. Use your own fills for entry prices when you have them.
Model values
Values before expiry depend on the IV and forward assumptions. Real option prices can move differently, especially around events.
Margins and costs
Margin requirements, brokerage, taxes and slippage are not included. Selling options can need large margin and can lose far more than the premium received.
Education only
This tool shows how option strategies behave. It does not recommend any trade.
SBIN Strategy Builder: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I build a SBIN option strategy here?
Choose a ready-made strategy, or add legs from the option chain with the B (buy) and S (sell) buttons. Then edit strikes, expiries, lots or entry prices in the positions table, and the payoff updates instantly.
Which ready-made strategies are available?
Bullish: buy call, sell put, bull call and bull put spreads, call ratio back spread, long calendar with calls, bull condor, bull butterfly, range forward, long synthetic future. Bearish: the mirror set. Neutral: short straddle, iron butterfly, short strangle, short iron condor, Batman, double plateau, jade lizard and reverse jade lizard. Others: ratio spreads, long straddle and strangle, long iron butterfly and condor, strip and strap.
How is probability of profit calculated?
From a lognormal distribution of the price at the first expiry, centred on that expiry's forward with its ATM implied volatility. POP is the share of that distribution where the payoff is positive.
What is the difference between the green and blue lines?
The green and red line is the payoff on expiry day. The blue line is the estimated profit or loss on the target date, before expiry, which still includes time value.
Why do my numbers differ from my broker's?
This page uses end-of-day closing prices and its own IV and forward assumptions. Live prices, a different volatility or interest-rate assumption, or a different time convention will give slightly different values.
Does the builder show margin required?
No. Margins depend on SPAN and exposure files and on your broker. Check the margin with your broker before placing a trade.
